ALL ABOUT FREADING
What is Freading?
Freading is an eBook loaning library for patrons with a valid Westchester library card. You will also need to enter a PIN, which is the last four digits of the phone number that you have on file at the library.
The eBooks are always available for download and are never "checked out." Holds are not necessary. However, the download is a loan and access to the book is limited to two weeks.
How does Freading work?
Publishers have made these eBooks always available for loan, however the amount of downloads allowed for a patron is not unlimited. Every patron is allotted 10 tokens per week. Tokens are a virtual currency that you use to exchange for downloads. Each book download costs either 4, 2 or 1 token. Generally, the newer the book, the more tokens it costs. Tokens are free to the patron and will be refreshed every week beginning on Monday at 12:01 AM.

How do I renew a book?
Once your time period has expired, you can renew a book by visiting the book display again on the library's Freading site. You will see that the token value has changed, and the renewal cost, if any, is displayed. You can go to the download link and downloading it will renew the eBook for 2 more weeks.
